100 Movies: The Beginning
A little over a year ago there was a meme going around that particularly appealed to me. It took the list of the top 100 rated films from IMDB and asked you to highlight the ones you’d seen. I’d seen 60-70% of them last year and made it my mission to watch the ones I hadn’t seen by the end of the year.
Well, I didn’t quite manage it so I’m going to do the same again this year. Here’s the list as it stands today and I’ve marked in bold the one’s I’ve seen. That fortunately leaves 22 25 (EDIT: would help if I learned to count) that I haven’t seen yet, three of which I actually own on DVD but just haven’t watched yet. I also It does make me realise that I do need to watch more Hitchcock. My objections to this list are anything that was released in the last year or two because only time will tell whether they deserve to be in this list. That being said, it’s more or less consistent with what was in the list last year.
So I’ll keep you updated with my progress and feel free to join in if you like.

I can recommend The Maltese Falcon. Though, if it’s Bogart as Marlowe that you’re after, The Big Sleep is better. Mainly because it also features Lauren Bacall and has a famously incomprehensible plot.

you have to see Rear Window - it’s brilliant. Even if it’s just for jimmy stewart.

Less than 50%
Simon Pegg’s Stalker is hoping to have seen all of the IMDb’s Top 100 films by the end of the year. With 25% to go, that’s a reasonable but achievable task. I’m shocked to discover that I’ve not seen 56 of these films.

Not a chance
By the end of the year, the Stalker intends to see every film on the IMDb’s Top 100 list (the link is to the top 250, but I’m sure you can work out which of those are also in the Top 100).
I would…
