JACK BROWN runs up to the door. It’s closed. He pulls a cellphone from his pocket and presses a single button.
INT - BST HQ - ELEVATOR - NIGHT
The security phone in the elevator rings. A CLEANER answers it.
CLEANER
‘Ello?
EXT - HOUSE
JACK
This is Jack. Put me through to somebody else. Even though I’ve got their number, I called you directly instead despite the fact we’ve never spoken before and you dont’ know who I am.
INT - BST HQ - ELEVATOR - NIGHT
The cleaner passes the phone to TONY ALFRESCO who’s standing next to him.
TONY
Alfresco!
EXT - HOUSE
JACK
Tony, it’s Jack. I’m at the door but it’s closed.
TONY
(On Phone)
Okay, we have a door-opening team on standby. They’ll be at your location in five minutes.
JACK
We can’t wait that long. We need to open this door now.
INT - BST HQ - ELEVATOR - NIGHT
TONY
Wait for the door-opening team Jack. You don’t have the clearance.
EXT - HOUSE
JACK
Tony, listen to me. If I don’t open the door now, it’s going to remain closed. Our priority is to open the door. I’ve done this before. Trust me.
TONY
(On Phone)
Jack, if you don’t wait for the team then you’ll have to open the door on your own. I can’t help you from here.
JACK
I understand. Can you send me a tactical layout of the door?
INT - BST HQ - ELEVATOR - NIGHT
TONY
It’s on it’s way. Jack, our door analyst is doing something entirely irrelevant. I’ll have to talk you through it. Take hold of the handle with your right hand.
EXT - HOUSE
JACK
Negative Tony. That’s not going to be possible. I’m going to use my left hand.
INT - BST HQ - ELEVATOR - NIGHT
TONY
Jack, I’m giving you an order. Use your right hand.
EXT - HOUSE
JACK
I’m sorry Tony, but I can’t. With all due respect I have to use my left hand. I don’t have a choice.
INT - BST HQ - ELEVATOR - NIGHT
TONY
Be careful Jack.
EXT - HOUSE
JACK
Thanks Tony, I will.
Jack reaches out for the door with his left hand but it swings open a little bit before he touches the handle.
JACK
Tony, the door is already open, I repeat, the door is already open.
INT - BST HQ - ELEVATOR - NIGHT
TONY
Then that means…
EXT - HOUSE
JACK
Yes Tony. If the door is already open then there’s someone working on the inside.
CUT TO:
The same damn clock with the same damn BEEP BOOP BEEP BOOP sound effect but now displaying 12:35:20
FADE OUT
