I finally reached the dizzy heights of level 60 in WoW this week. It was my goal to do so before the expansion came out and as far as transitory and meaningless achievements go, I was pretty chuffed. (Geekage continues after a word from our sponsors).

I took a screenshot to celebrate (managing to time the event so that I levelled when handing in a quest) but I was using someone else’s laptop and deleted the WoW folder this morning and, consequently, lost the only record of this monumentous occassion. Call wordsRearrange(”I fuckwit a am”).

After that, a couple of guild mates and I went and had a running battle with four or five Alliance toons who were griefing lowbies at The Crossroads. So I figured I’d haul my newly maximum level arse over they to server a dish of sweet loving payback for all the times when I’d been ganked by high level enemies. One of the allies was a human warlock and was kitted out in Epic Tier 1 gear. Taking him down proved mightily difficult and this highlights one of the ongoing issues that people have with WoW in general - the discrepancy between two characters of the same class and level with different equipment. Fortunately, I don’t give that much of a shit.

When a couple more guildies logged on, we ventured over to Blackrock Depths. It’s a stunning dungeon, huge in scale and very, very impressive. We didn’t get too far because, quite frankly, we sucked total ass as a group. It probably would help if we learnt how to play together a little better (Sebudai would be proud! - Cheers for the link, Lum). What’s encouraging is that despite getting to the top level, the game hasn’t got easier. If anything, it’s got a lot harder and there’s still lots more to see!
