Web 2.0 lovin’
Okay, so I threw in some stuff to give this page a little more content. I’ve even reinstated my blogroll which is a partial list as there’s a bug with importing the OPML file containing my Bloglines feed list from my local drive. Just to keep Matt happy, I’ve added his blog too. It is only a fraction of what I generally try to read every day (although my bloglines list is probably in need of some deadheading) but I’ll sort that out some other time.
The teeth have gone. Annie should be pleased.
Twittering: this has been added because I can. Also because when I do my walk, I will probably attempt to provide updates on the move. Because I can.
Last.FM: I rarely use this because I’m invariably doing something else with my PC and have music on the stereo. Or everyone’s asleep in the house so I don’t have any music on at all.
Flickr: because you have to. It’s the law. Not overly keen on the flash badge but again, until I sort something else out, it will have to do.
At some stage I will have to install some new plugins. Last comments (which will no doubt remain empty most of the time), gravatars (possibly) and perhaps some other stuff. Might have to work out the whole paging and announcement thing too.
After that, the next overhaul will be content!

Might be worth pointing out that you need to force a refresh ( Shift + F5 ) to reload the new CSS etc. - otherwise the teeth won’t go, and the layout looks broken…

I want the teeth back! I shall endeavor to start a campaign to this effect.
Twittering is brilliant. The Javascript badge thingy is better though, the flash one is for MySpace-using n00bz.
The Flickr Flash badge is not quite for MySpace-using n00bz, but it’s not far away. The HTML one is miles betterer, and miles more customisable to boot.
Recent comments are always nice, any blog worth it’s salt (which yours undoubtedly is) should have them. Gravatars are like, so 2006 (or 2005 or 2004 even).
Oh and thanks for adding the LWT to your ‘roll.

I really hate those teeth. Shudder.
I’m with matt on the flash vs HTML badges. And Matt and I never agree with each other on anything.

Don’t listen to Matt, the teeth should stay gone.
Your Archive month links seem to have negative left margin: the first letter of each is slipping off the page (Firefox 2.0.0.4 on WinXP:SP2).
As Matt says, a recent comments sidebar box makes things much easier to follow. A recent comments RSS/Atom feed is good for helping people remember to come and comment.
As intrusive as the Flickr Flash toy is, it’s quite pretty and doesn’t break the theme here. The Twitter one seems slightly the wrong colour, and I suspect it will be no matter what colour you make it. Not sure whether you specified the colours on the last.fm one: again, it’s subtly off site-shade on each one, as far as I can tell.
I’d be tempted to say that it would be better to use whatever HTML/javascript is available and incorporate it into your theme, but that would sound too much like agreeing with Matt, from whom I feel I should distance myself for such crimes as measuring customisability and ‘betterness’ in miles, and using the phrase ‘MySpace-using n00bz’ (twice in as many sentences!)
:-p

Right, let me make one thing quite clear now: none of this is permanent or as it should be. It is a WIP. I don’t want it to be that way but I needed to change the site so something is better than nothing.
The flickr/twittr/lastfmr badges are flash for now until I sort out something that is either HTML based or pulls the data directly. The colours have not been selected according to any particular theme or style (the last.fm badge gives four colours to choose from).
The links on the left hand side are not styled properly and are generated through different means. Future version may actually provide an archive navigator that isn’t a list - especially if I get around to adding another 2 years worth of archives.
Basically, while comments are appreciated, anything regarding spacing/colours/themes and the rest will probably be overlooked as none of this is final. I’m just pissing around trying not to do any real work.

Well, it’s not like there’s a whole heap of stuff to do to Lotus Notes…
