Real or Fake...

I must admit, I really don’t get the entire hysteria about ‘faked’ TV programmes. (the latest one is here, about the ITV documentary of a man dying with Alzheimers)
Now while I fully understand the problems with the ‘live’...

When I was in Alaska, I was talking to our Kayaking guide about Bear Grillis, and apparently right, every one of his shows is a complete load of bollocks.

When it looks like he's hiked about a mile or two from one place to another, in fact he's been transported by helicopter between two locations, possibly hundreds of miles apart. Our guide worked with them when they were doing the episode in Alaska. And most of the survival tips he gives are guaranteed to kill you or make you very ill.

I'm a Ray Mears man myself.

Dragon, Incorrect Information is the Scum's lifeblood. Well, along with the plasma of hysteria and sensationalism.

"Freddie Star ate my Hamster", for one ideal example of all three in one headline. Might as well have one saying "Princess Di took it up the arse from brickies".

Oh no, we're talking about incorrect information, aren't we...

Lyle - hysteria and sensationalism I expect. It's passing off incorrect information as fact that still astounds me. Yes, I know it's pissing in the wind but even so...

Matt - hi and welcome. I saw that "Jaws 2" picture this morning and yeah, you're absolutely right. The fin is the shark's finger print and there is no way on earth that the fin they claim is that of a Great White is anything other than a Basking shark.

A 2 minute google comparing the dorsal fins of the great white and the basking shark will reveal that the photo of the fin in The Sun is nothing like the great white - which has a slightly concave trailing edge - and very much like the basking - slightly convex. Of course the Sun knocks out this crap 'cause it sells and how many readers have the time or inclination to bother googling it as I've done ....

Seriously, you expected anything less than stupid hysteria from that red-top jamrag 'paper' ?!? Particularly in the silly season once Parliament's closed for the summer?
