Spiderman 3 (USA, 2007)
What a fucking dull film.
It’s a shame that a franchise that started off so well has probably been euthanized in its prime by a poorly scripted, whiningly ‘emo’, disappointingly tedious film - suffering from obvious studio-executive interference, a lack of fresh vision and ambivalent performances (except from Thomas Haden Church as Flint Marko who was about the only sympathetic character in it - oh, and J.K.Simmons and Bruce Campbell were good value as always).
I have nothing else to add.

Agreed. I love Sam Raimi, and enjoyed the first two. Deliberately put off watching this until recently as I was worried it was going to be a let down - oh boy, was it. I liked Topher Grace in it, but his character felt the most tacked on, unfortunately. But Bruce Campbell certainly rocked, as ever!

I didn’t have high expectations having heard about what a let down it was and hoped that I’d find it better than people orignally thought as a result. Turns out everyone was right and no amount of low expectations could redeem it. Even the fights seemed tired and lacklustre.

I don’t think I was even that polite about Spiderman 3. It almost sucked as badly as Blade 3 - and that’s quite an achievement in itself…

No, you were considerably and not uncharacteristically sweary about it.
What I will say is this: Ghost Rider: more entertaining than Spidey 3.

Ah yes, you’re right, I was most unpleasant about it. And deservedly so, in my (oh so) humble opinion.

By the way, nice double negative.

I was pleased with it. It’s actually a “litote” which, of course, you would have known, being the pedant that you are. Felt it was a more challenging turn of phrase that would emphasize how sweary you are by nature and would be better than the word “typically” in context.
What do you mean I’m being pretentious?

Honestly? I’d never heard of a “litote” at all. It sounds like one of those words my mum makes up in Scrabble®
As for pretentious, I’m saying not one word…
