There’s a sort of religious discussiony type thing going on at Jon’s. Here you get a little doodle of an idea that I always wanted to explore more.

Intriguing… where might you be seeing it developing?
(Do you know the band Ministry and their track Scarecrow… I’ve always assumed- in spite of not being able to make out the lyrics- that it might have a similar theme. I find it a strangely unsettling track- possibly due to its relentlessness!)

I don’t know about developing but I always wanted to redo it properly but then I let any type of drawing, sketching or doodling fizzle out.
I know the Ministry track very well – it was my favourite track on Psalm 69. In fact I’m pretty certain that it was the reason this was named as it was. It does have a similar theme, particularly the line “crucified and left in isolation”. Perhaps I should add them to the post.
Trivia time: did you know that the track was actually sampled from The Smith’s “How Soon Is Now” but slows it right down. Very effective.

I know that feeling on the letting sketches fizzle out… my paints are currently languishing behind half a hundredweight of videos and magazines; the acrylics are now probably ossified.
Psalm 69, surely the band’s greatest album… but way to screw it up (Ministry not you
) with all those awful follow-ups. Filth Pig actually gives me a headache if I listen to it all the way through!
I found myself increasingly drawn to the track Corrosion; though the 12″ versions of Just One Fix with Burroughs and N.W.O. with added Bush are pretty damn fine… and Scarecrow… and Psalm 69… and TVII… in fact, pretty much the whole thing bar Hero.
I thought it was The Smiths though not being a Smiths fan I didn’t know which track but then, now let’s see if this works, here it suggests the sample may be from The Exorcist III… but it could be that I’m misunderstanding the sample they’re referring to!

Jon, you naughty boy – I quite like Filth Pig: Reload is fantastic, Filth Pig and Lava are pretty good, and then you’ve got… yeah, I see what you mean now. The one Ministry album I really can’t listen to is Dark Side of the Spoon: the politest way to describe is migraine-inducing.
Biomechanical Messiah: wow. I’d pay good money to see a film with that title.
