Nottingham city centre is worth a visit - though possibly not at night.

I can recommend:
the Broadway cinema - good films, nice food, nice bar
Gusto - Italian restaurant and deli just down the main hill from near the Broadway (go directly down Hockley)
Page 45 - best comics shop ever (just down the hill from Selectadisc on market Street — that’s the street down from the Theatre Royal

Plenty more to recommend as well including the Trip to Jeruselem pub (near the Castle) and the Lincolnshire Poacher pub (just up the hill from the Victoria Centre).
