30 Days And Nights
Is it possible to write, direct and edit a short film in 30 days?
The answer is, quite obviously, yes. Easily. I mean, you can do it in 48 hours as is evidenced from the plethora of “Make a film in 48 hour” type challenges that some festivals hold. The last time I planned to do one of those, I knocked up a rough first draft of a script in an hour or two but, as is ever the case, the scope and scale of the story evolved into something which would probably require far longer than 24 hours to film (with another 12 hours to edit). Other events intervened to put the kaibosh (sp?) on that though.
But 30 days? Well, that’s a long time. Admittedly, it’s a long time without being able to fully utilise available weekends which means that’s more like 30 evenings but that’s easily 4 hours a night for, um, 4 nights a week. Probably. With the right script, some willing and reasonably committed collaborators I’m sure it’s possible.
About that “right script” thing? Anyone got a short horror script that’s not doing much and could be done on the cheap? It’s worth a credit. We may even be able to negotiate payment of sorts (although as this is a no-budget affair, beer and good will might have to suffice) I ask only in that an already written script saves me having to spend the time writing one. Alternatively, there’s always Dogme style… no script, no sets, no props - just film.
Did I mention it needs to be horror?
Next off (and I know I repeatedly ask this but this is more specific): anyone know any willing people in or around the Nottingham area who like to act or are willing to be involved and might be available on Monday to Thursday evenings?

I’ve got an idea, and it would be (fairly) easy to film.
It’s just that I haven’t actually written it yet.
And don’t know whether it will (eventually) qualify as horror or not. It’s definitely not scary monsters type stuff. *shrug*

Oh, and I think it’s “Kybosh” , but have no justification or reference for that.

Where I got the ‘a’ from I don’t know - it can be either kibosh or kybosh and I do know how to spell it so must have been having a funny moment when I wrote this.
