Firestarter

The other thing about moving to a PvE server in World of Warcraft is that I’ve finally created some Alliance characters. Not only that, but two of them (I’m an alt whore - what can I say?) have actually got over level 10. Admittedly, my Night Elf druid is now suffering because I have no idea how to play him and he’s getting his arse kicked by rabbits but my baldy paladin is doing okay. However, although I haven’t got him past level 7 yet, I’m very pleased with my Gnome mage who, without a doubt, is going to be fire specced.

Daytripping

Despite myself, I’ve been getting back into World of Warcraft. I’ve been messing around in Everquest 2 recently which is fun but altogether too serious and, well, lacking a je ne sais quoi. With the recent introduction of character transfers in WoW, I’ve moved my primary toon - Mordred the Undead Warlock - to a PvE server. One of the problems I think I had was that although I enjoyed PvP at times, getting ganked when trying to do missions was hindering my progress and generally annoying me. So Mordred - or Mordredd as he is now known thanks to some upstart creating a character with the same name a couple of days before I transferred - is levelling nicely, thank you very much.

Warcraft: The Movie

Well, Empire online joked about it a couple of weeks ago but it seems that they’re precog powers are in fine fettle.

Blizzard and Legendary Pictures, the production company behind Batman Begins and this years Superman Returns, have announced that a plan to make a movie set in the Warcraft universe. I get the impression that Blizzard are going to be more involved than simply selling the rights to Legendary. I very much doubt that they’ll want to see their brand diluted in the same way that Doom or it’s ilk have been.

The main advantage is that Blizzard can probably afford to throw a lot of money at this venture and take on a producer role. Legendary Pictures have got a long term contract as an affiliate of Warner Bros. who are definitely on the up in recent years. They’ve handled the Harry Potter franchise quite well and Batman Begins was excellent. They seem to have got over the phase of releasing more godawful movies than good ones so let’s just hope they carry on riding the crest of this wave for a while longer.

Sergeant Mordred

Sergeant Mordred reporting for duty, sah!

(This won’t mean anything to anyone who doesn’t play WoW. And I don’t think I’m going to try to explain it so sorry!)

Art of World of Warcraft

Amazon recommended this to me:

World of Warcraft

It totally appeals to the geek in me.  There’s a selection of geek coffee table books that I’ve never actually got around to buying (Half-Life 2: Raising the bar being one I still dither over) because, well, they’re so geeky.

Perhaps when I order the album by Powerman 5000 it might accidentally slip into my shopping basket.
